GML Images

My photographic journey, from auto to manual.

Benji and Tibbe

Went to visit a friend today – her horses are very photogenic Hafflingers.

Only managed a few images but they came out OK despite the inclement weather we seem to be having in this season we call Summer.

Just been to a planning meeting for an event on Leith Hill, near Dorking, Surrey, for an event run by H2H, the National Trust and Surrey Wildlife Trust. The aim is to make our English Heritage accessible to all.

More information can be found on the Heritage2Health website.

I am going as part of Reigate Photographic Society but it seems to harness some more of my skills too.

For more than 30 years I was a Registered Nurse and have a Diploma in Health and Social Welfare and a Certificate in Health Promotion – I knew they would come in handy some day. These I did as part of my BSC (Hon) with the Open University.

Funny how things come together – looks like an exciting event for all.

Reigate Photographic Society Awards

I have received 2 trophies from the Reigate Photographic Society for having the most points in the Projected Digital Images and the Print competitions over the year.
Reigate are a small but friendly club and they are holding various activities over the summer months.
Saturday 26th May is a photographic challenge held at the Weald and Downland Musuem in Singleton, West Sussex. I intend to participate as the museum is holding a Heavy Horse event over the weekend, so 2 passions to be indulged horses and photography.
Some of the images from Flickr, haven’t decided which to put in the competition. The day was extremely sunny with lots of shadows and some very dark and light horse combinations to photograph.

Heavy Horse Spectacular

In August they are participating in a family photographic day at Gatton Park in Reigate, I will be helping with the wildlife photography.

In September I have offered to help at a National Trust/Surrey Wildlife Trust event at Leith Hill near Dorking, I will be offering photographic advice to those who want to learn more.

Saw my first kingfisher of 2012, not too clear as a long way away.

Happy New Year

Some photos from our trip to Austria over the New Year.

Reigate Photographic Society

I have joined the Reigate Photographic Society and in the first print and digital projected image competitions got very high marks. They put me in the standard class as I am the new girl!
2 10/10 and a 9/10 in the print competition and 2 10/10 and an 8/10 in the DPI.
The images can be seen here in my Flickr stream.

September Update

Been out photographing Parelli Games – exciting events, there are some images on my website.

Have also added more to Redbubble.

Butterflies on the BBC

One of my images was on the A-Z of Butterflies (as an Essex Skipper) on the BBC Nature website – but was misidentified so may be removed.

It has now been removed but will be back when they get to L ( it is apparently a large skipper). The BBC didn’t do very well got 3 incorrect ID’s!

My Large Skipper didn’t make the final cut! Oh well 15 minutes of fame isn’t bad.

Sold Images

I have sold an image through Advocate Art – subject to all the paperwork etc being signed. It is for a greetings card company in the USA – an exclusive use one so I wont be making my own cards from it. Although I still have plenty of Christmassy images left.
A triptych of snowy trees.

I have now got paid so am very happy.

Been out chasing butterflies and damsel and dragonflies. I only wish the little Skipper ones weren’t so difficult to tell apart.
